Stonington — Clean Up Sound and Harbor’s annual meeting on Nov. 19 will feature a presentation on the revival of oyster farming in the Mystic River.
The meeting, which is free and open to the public, will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the LaGrua Center in the borough. Light refreshment including fresh oysters will be served.
Steve Plant, the owner of the CT Cultured Oysters and a member of the Noank Aquaculture Cooperative, will discuss the commercial oyster culture in the Mystic River while Don Murphy, the chairman of the Stonington Shellfish Commission, will discuss government’s role in water and shellfish sampling and the revival of commercial shellfishing in the river.
There will also be a presentation on CUSH’s five-year water quality monitoring report, election of officers and the announcement about the recipient of the organization’s Sea Star for Environmental Excellence Award.
